Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of tension associated with a sense of apprehension about impending danger or doom. Anxiety disorders include disorders that are characterized by excessive fear and/or worry as well as related behavioral and somatic disturbances. Today more than 10 million Americans are being treated for anxiety, and it affects individuals across the lifespan, from childhood to the elderly years. A few major anxiety disorders, such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Social Phobia, have shown response to some currently available marketed treatments. However, concern over addiction potential or sedative effects limits the use of many of the older treatments for anxiety.
